In an energy tune-up inspection, I evaluate heating equipment efficiency, insulation levels, glazing and the overall tightness of the house. I then produce a Home Energy Tune-uP® Report. The report contains estimates of the savings, costs and payback time for each energy-efficiency recommendation. It identifies improvements that, if financed, will save more on energy bills than they cost.
An energy "Tune-up" inspection differs from an energy "audit" in that it does not include technical analysis, like blower door tests. It is also a lot less expensive. If included with a standard home inspection, the Home Energy Tune-up inspection usually adds about 1/2 of the price of the home inspection (for a house with an under-floor crawlspace).
